What is HST WG? Print E-mail

HST WG - High Speed Telegraphy Working Group of IARU Region 1 consists of representatives of national societies - members of IARU Region 1 (International Amateur Radio Union). The full list of members of the HST WG can be found on the IARU Region 1 website.

 
Why is the championship held in Skierniewice/Poland? Print E-mail

The location is being chosen during the meetings of High Speed Telegraphy Working Group of IARU Region 1. The member societies send their applications before the WG meeting and the best offer is discussed. The candidacy of Poland was approved during the HST WG meeting in Obzor, Bulgaria, in September 2009.

 
What is the detailed schedule of the championship? Print E-mail

5th October (Tuesday)

till 17:00 – arrival of the participants to β€œTatar” hotel in Rawa Mazowiecka (1, Tatar Str.)

17:30 ― departure from the hotel to the official opening of the championship in the Culture House of Rawa Mazowiecka

19:30 ― dinner

20:30 ― Jury meeting

08:00 - 09:00 ― breakfast

10:30 –14:30 ― competition

15:00 - 16:00 ― lunch

16:30 – 19:30 ― competition

09:30 – 16:00 ― trip to Warsaw with lunch, arriving to Skierniewice after the trip

17:00 ― official closing of the championship in Sports Centre in Skierniewice

20:00 ― gala dinner with dancing

How does the competition look like? Print E-mail

The competition consists of four tests. First two are transmitting and receiving (letters, figures, mixed - letters, figures and . , ? = /). Receiving test begins with letters, then figures and mixed. The speeds increase until anyone is able to receive. The other two tests are supported with computer software: Rufz - receiving amateur callsigns and Morse Runner - pile-up simulator.

 
What is high speed telegraphy? Print E-mail

HST means transmitting or receiving of Morse code with high speed - meaning over 70-80 characters per minute for adult participants (these are start speeds for receiving tests). For younger age groups initial speeds are lower.
